About Karthik Marupeddi
Based in Fort Bend County, Texas, Karthik Marupeddi is a Senior Software Engineer with TIGA, The Integration Group of Americas, a leading systems integration and engineering services company that improves operational efficiency, increases reliability, and enhances safety for industrial markets. Marupeddi has over a decade of professional experience in the software sector.
He is originally from India and came to the United States 15 years ago to study and obtain his Master’s degree.
Marupeddi’s Work with TIGA
Marupeddi joined TIGA in 2019 and is responsible for designing and developing software called IOps, which leverages existing SCADA systems to allow end users to operate oil and gas assets more efficiently from virtually any device. He designed and developed a portfolio vertical for Messenger+ so the system could forecast scheduling, capacity, location, and segment-related challenges for customers when primary information is keyed into the system. He also developed GUI using open-source technologies like Angular, Yarn, Typescript, HTML, CSS, and material design.
Additionally, Marupeddi developed UI components as services so that users could access them through the application, such as notifications and confirmation pop-ups. He also developed Lookup using a model for search functionalities for faster development, among many other applications.
Marupeddi’s Career Trajectory
After completing his Master’s degree, Karthik Marupeddi began his professional career as a Software Developer at Verizon Business in Richardson, Texas, for two years. His initial project involved working on a web-based application where clients could manage their services with Verizon Business online. His responsibilities included designing and developing user interfaces using HTML, CSS, and JS; developing code to read the XML data using XSLT; designing Struts, Hibernate, and JavaScript functionalities; establishing code using Ajax calls; and more. He also performed health checks for applications in production.
Marupeddi’s other project with Verizon Business involved its E-Bonding web application, a platform-independent application between Verizon and its business customers. E-bonding is where Verizon customers can generate orders, trouble tickets, and inventory proactively and reactively. Marupeddi’s talent was to put to work designing and developing Web Services using JWS JBoss Annotations, developing code to read the XML data and convert it to the required format, creating interfaces in Java for the services in the business layer, and much more.
After Verizon Business, he was hired by the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare as a Java Developer, where he worked under contract for three years. Marupeddi worked on various applications: IBES, e-Verify, SVES/SOLQI, and Idalink. These applications were designed and developed using agile and scrum methodology. With the IBES application, eligibility is determined for Idaho citizens to receive funds for various programs like food stamps, Medicare, and TAFI. E-Verify enabled gathering information about clients from multiple departments like DOL, HEAT, etc. State Verification Exchange System (SVES/SOLQI) enabled data such as income and vital stats to be processed and loaded into IBES by nightly batch jobs and online. Idalink is a client-facing website where clients can renew their food stamps.
Once he completed his projects with Verizon Business, Marupeddi worked for Sugarland, Texas-based ABB as a Software Engineer for five years before his current position with TIGA. Marupeddi worked on ABB’s nMarket Suite, which offers an integrated, bid-to-bill transaction management platform for bidding, position management, scheduling, dispatch, settlement, and reporting.
Marupeddi’s Academic Background
Marupeddi graduated in 2008 with a Master of Science degree in Electrical and Computer Science Engineering from Southern Illinois University Carbondale. For his last two semesters, he secured a full tuition scholarship with a stipend as a Graduate Assistant.
He received his Bachelor’s degree in Technology, Electronic, and Communicating Engineering in 2005 from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad, India.
Marupeddi also holds various certifications, including for Angular 2 Essential Training and Learn AngularJS 2: The Basics. He received his certifications as a Scrum Product Owner from the Scrum Alliance and a Business Component Developer and Java Programmer from Sun Microsystems.
His Personal Life
Karthik Marupeddi is married to Sravani Rampay. They have two sons, Eeshan and Ayaan. He and his family attend Shirdi Sai Jalaram Mandir, a Hindu temple. Marupeddi and his wife prepare meals and donate them to the temple.
Marupeddi also donates blood to the Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center whenever possible and when the Center calls needing blood in an emergency. He donates Double Red Cells or whole blood as part of the O+ blood group, which is the most frequently transfused blood type and the most needed by hospitals and blood banks. He has donated to the Whole Blood Harvest Green Community, The Whole Blood Surge Land Neighborhood Donor Center, and the Double Red Cells Sugar Land Neighborhood Donor Center.
Marupeddi continuously spends time sharpening his software engineering skills. He also enjoys playing badminton and watching football and basketball in his free time. His teams are the NFL’s Green Bay Packers and the NBA’s Houston Rockets. He also likes to watch the Indian national cricket team.
